FAQs

Do I need to take Level 1 before I take Level 2?

No, both courses are considered beginner courses, however if your wine knowledge is very basic, I would advise starting at Level 1 first as this will give you a very good grounding to move onto Level 2. If you have some wine knowledge already, or work in the industry and are comfortable with the main grape varieties and basic principles of wine making you can start at Level 2. Have a look at the course specifications to help you make your decision.

How soon will I get my results?

WSET should issue your results for Level 2 within 30 working days after receipt of the exam papers being returned to them.

Will I get my certificate and pin at the end of the course?

No, once you have completed your course your examination papers will be sent to WSET. WSET should send Wineology your pins and certificates within 50 working days from when they receive it. Wineology will then send the certificates and pins directly to you.

Does the certification expire?

No, once you have the qualification, you have it for life!

Is this qualification recognised outside the UK?

Yes, all 9 WSET qualifications are globally recognised. So, if you’re planning on working abroad in the wine or hospitality industry, your WSET qualification will be recognised and will add gravitas to your CV!

Can my employer pay for my course?

Yes, many employers sponsor their staff through WSET training. This is a great way to support career development and encourage staff retention.
